PIACT Flood Training

Attention! If you are licensed for Property/Casualty or Personal Lines, you need to take one “approved” NFIP flood course prior to your initial license renewal after 8/1/07 . This is a one-time only requirement.

Last year the Connecticut Insurance Department implemented a new flood training requirement for all producers who have Property/Casualty and/or Personal Lines authority. A minimum of 3 hours of an “approved” NFIP flood training course is required for the initial license renewal after 8-1-07 . The course is not required for subsequent renewals.

PIACT's flood course is approved and meets these CE and flood training requirements.

At least 3 flood credits are necessary and will be applied toward the producer's Property/Casualty (PC) continuing education requirement. This is a one-time only requirement. For license renewal, Property/Casualty and Personal Lines producers MUST take this course just once after 8-1-07 .

Beginning Jan. 1, 2008, the FloodSmart campaign by the National Flood Insurance Program will require flood insurance training as a prerequisite for participation in the Agent Referral and Co-Op Programs.

The Agent Referral Program generates free, qualified leads for all enrolled agents through the Federal Emergency Management Agency Call Center and through the “Find an Agent” tool on the FloodSmart.gov Web site. The Agent Co-Op Program provides reimbursement up to 75 percent of the cost of advertising. For details, click here.
